Stormy rains, strong winds, snow, and rough seas… the forecast for Friday

The General Directorate of Meteorology forecasts rain and occasional thunderstorms for Friday in the northwest of the country, including the Rif and Loukkos regions, northern Gharb, the Phosphate and Oulmès plateaus, the Saïs area, the Greater and Middle Atlas, the Mediterranean coast, and the northeastern part of the Kingdom.

Extension of Precipitation

Additional rainfall is expected to affect the northern Atlantic plains, the plains located west of the Greater and Middle Atlas, as well as the Oriental region.

Snowfall in the Mountain Ranges

Snow is forecasted on the peaks of the Greater and Middle Atlas, the Rif, and the Oriental region for areas exceeding 1,400 meters in altitude.

Strong Winds and Sand Dispersion

Relatively strong to strong gusts of wind are expected in the regions of Tangier, the Rif, the northwest of the country, the Atlas mountains and surrounding areas, as well as in the Saïs, the Phosphate and Oulmès plateaus, the Atlantic plains, the Mediterranean coast, the Oriental region, the southeast, and the southern provinces. Sand particles will also be locally dispersed in the Oriental, the southeast, and the southern provinces.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures will range from 0 to 6 °C in the Atlas mountains, from 14 to 19 °C in the southern provinces, the southeast, the Moulouya valley, and coastal regions, and from 7 to 13 °C elsewhere in the Kingdom. Daytime temperatures are expected to experience a notable decrease.

Sea Conditions

The sea will be rough to very rough in the Mediterranean, locally experiencing very high conditions in the east and in the Strait of Gibraltar, strong to very strong between Cape Spartel and Ras Ghir, slightly rough to rough between Tan-Tan and Laâyoune, and rough to very rough along the rest of the Atlantic coast.
