On Monday in Madrid, Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska commended the "exemplary" cooperation between Spain and Morocco, particularly in the areas of security and managing migration flows.

In a statement to MAP following his meeting with Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, and alongside Morocco’s Ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, Grande-Marlaska emphasized Morocco’s crucial role in combating human trafficking networks. "Morocco is a reliable partner for Spain and the European Union," he stated.

Discussing the preparations for the 2030 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, the Spanish minister highlighted the importance of strengthened cooperation to ensure the security of this major sporting event. He added that collaboration in the sports domain complements the excellent security cooperation already in place between the two nations.

Grand-Marlaska also expressed satisfaction regarding the mutual commitment of both countries to continue enhancing their cooperation in the face of significant transnational threats such as terrorism, violent extremism, and organized crime, all within a framework of mutual trust.
