Guizhou Tyre: Three Candidates for Its Factory in Tanger Tech

Guizhou Tyre’s Industrial Project in Morocco Reaches New Milestone
The industrial project of Chinese tire manufacturer Guizhou Tyre in Morocco has taken a significant step forward. Three candidates are in contention to carry out the execution studies for the future factory, which is to be located within the Mohammed VI Tanger Tech City. The project involves an initial production unit capable of manufacturing six million semi-steel radial tires annually.
According to a provisional award notice, the three candidates received scores of 87.76, 85.01, and 81.65, respectively. The final decision will be made after Monday, October 12, 2026, following a claims period.
This phase involves the technical studies necessary for the establishment of the factory. Construction work will be the subject of subsequent contracts.
An Investment of Nearly 2.8 Billion Dirhams
In January 2026, Guizhou Tyre estimated the total investment for the project at $298.72 million, approximately 2.76 billion dirhams. The bulk of this budget, estimated at $293.02 million, is dedicated to construction and equipment.
The projected budget also includes $4.53 million in interim interest and $1.17 million allocated for the initial financing of the working capital.
The financial projections provided by the Chinese group indicate an average annual turnover of $182.52 million, equivalent to around 1.69 billion dirhams. The anticipated average annual profit is estimated at $40.87 million, or nearly 378.1 million dirhams.
Based on these forecasts, Guizhou Tyre estimated the project’s return on investment at 13.37%, with a construction period anticipated to last two years.
Nineteen Buildings Planned for the Tanger Tech Site
The revised project specifications identify the future factory site on approximately 208,111 square meters within the Mohammed VI Tanger Tech City. The first phase plans for a built-up area of 185,771 square meters, distributed across 19 buildings dedicated to production, technical services, storage, and administrative functions.
The industrial complex will include a rubber mixing workshop, a tire manufacturing unit for passenger vehicles, an electrical substation, and a boiler room. The program also includes a testing center, a water treatment station, warehouses, as well as an automated sorting and transfer center.
This organization is designed to bring together all the essential infrastructures required for the industrial unit’s operations, from production activities to technical control and flow management.
Technical Studies to Precede Construction Work
The selected contractor will be responsible for preparing execution studies covering a wide range of fields. Their tasks will include architectural and structural plans, water and electricity supply networks, ventilation, fire protection, roadways, and miscellaneous networks.
Services will also encompass the foundations for industrial equipment and the interior design of the administrative building. The contractor will need to establish quantities, prepare technical documents for future construction contracts, and conduct geotechnical and environmental studies.
All documentation must comply with the laws, regulations, and applicable standards in Morocco, as well as the technical requirements associated with the acceptance of the installations.
This phase serves as a prerequisite for the actual construction and aims to define the technical characteristics of the complex while preparing the contracts for its realization.
Potential Capacity of Twelve Million Tires
While the initial phase of the project is designed for an annual production of six million semi-steel radial tires for passenger vehicles, initial studies anticipate a more substantial industrial configuration.
The specifications indeed mention an overall capacity that could reach twelve million tires per year, divided into two phases. The shared infrastructure would be designed to accommodate a potential expansion of production capacity.
This outlook indicates a gradual development of the Tanger Tech site, even though the current investment decision by Guizhou Tyre pertains to the first phase of six million units annually.
Guizhou Tyre Advances in Its Establishment Procedures in Morocco
On August 11, 2026, Guizhou Tyre announced that it had completed the necessary approvals and registration formalities in China, following the receipt of the Chinese overseas investment certificate.
As the Moroccan subsidiary was not yet registered at the time documented, the contract related to the studies must be signed by Guizhou Qianjin Tyre Investment. The rights and obligations linked to this contract will then be transferred to the future subsidiary within thirty days of its registration.
With this project, Tanger Tech is preparing to welcome a new industrial unit dedicated to tire manufacturing. The final designation of the service provider for the execution studies now constitutes a significant step before the commencement of construction contracts.
