Moroccan Meteorology Authority Issues Orange Alert for Severe Weather

The Moroccan Directorate General of Meteorology has issued an orange alert for Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27, due to intense localized thunderstorms accompanied by hail in several regions throughout the Kingdom.

Affected Regions

According to the Directorate, expected rainfall could reach between 25 and 40 mm with hail in the provinces of Figuig, Jerada, Taourirt, Midelt, Boulemane, Taounate, Al Hajeb, Khemisset, Ifrane, Khénifra, Khouribga, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Fquih Ben Salah, Marrakech, Rehamna, Beni Mellal, and Azilal. This alert is effective from noon on Thursday until midnight on Friday.

Additional Forecasts for Friday

On Friday, locally strong thunderstorms are expected to bring rainfall amounts ranging from 20 to 30 mm with potential hail in the provinces of Midelt, Tinghir, Figuig, Boulemane, and Errachidia, occurring between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Authorities advise residents in these areas to take necessary precautions and to regularly monitor weather updates.
