Barcelona FC files a complaint with UEFA after a disputed refereeing decision.

FC Barcelona has officially appealed to UEFA following a controversial refereeing decision during their home defeat against Atlético Madrid (0-2) in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
In a statement, the Catalan club asserted that certain decisions made during the match did not align with existing rules and had a direct impact on the flow and outcome of the game.
A Disputed Incident at the Center of the Controversy
The incident in question occurred in the 55th minute, stemming from what appeared to be an innocuous play. A Madrid defender handled the ball in his own box following a pass from his goalkeeper. Despite protests from Barcelona players, the referee did not call a foul, and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) did not intervene.
The Anger of the Barcelona Staff
After the match, Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, expressed his bewilderment. He stated that the incident should have been penalized, even mentioning the possibility of a red card and a penalty, both of which could have changed the dynamics of the match.
A Call for Investigation and Transparency
In light of this situation, FC Barcelona is demanding an official inquiry, along with access to the recordings of communications between the referees and the VAR. The club is also requesting, if necessary, a formal acknowledgment of the mistakes made and the implementation of appropriate measures to ensure that similar situations do not occur in the future.
