The Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, has affirmed that Morocco’s selection as the guest of honor for the 14th edition of the African Arts Market (MASA) reflects the depth and strength of the ties between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire.

Historical Relations and Enhanced Cultural Cooperation

In a speech delivered on his behalf in Abidjan, the minister emphasized that this honor is not coincidental; it represents the strong historical bonds between the two countries, with Morocco placing culture at the forefront of its efforts to foster connections among peoples.

Showcasing Moroccan Cultural Heritage

He also highlighted the richness and diversity of Moroccan cultural heritage, encompassing music, craftsmanship, literature, and gastronomy. He specified that Morocco would present an artistic program worthy of this continental event.

Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries in Africa

Minister Bensaid underscored the strategic role of MASA in promoting cultural and creative industries across Africa. This includes supporting artist mobility, training professionals, and developing performing arts such as music, theater, and dance.

A Showcase of Morocco’s African Influence

The evening was marked by the screening of an institutional film that highlighted Morocco’s advancements in various strategic sectors, including infrastructure, renewable energy, and the automotive industry, while emphasizing its openness to Africa and the richness of its heritage.

Strong Moroccan Presence in Abidjan

The event brought together a significant Moroccan delegation alongside Ivorian officials, featuring Moroccan artists and an exhibition titled “Treasures of Morocco,” which was dedicated to the cultural and heritage diversity of the Kingdom.
