OCP Nutricrops: Bangladesh Orders 140,000 Tons of Moroccan Fertilizers
Bangladesh Enhances Fertilizer Supplies from Moroccan Group OCP Nutricrops with New Order of 140,000 Tons of Phosphate Fertilizers, Under a Government-to-Government Agreement.
Morocco is solidifying its presence in the Bangladeshi fertilizer market. On Monday, August 24, 2026, Bangladeshi authorities approved the import of 140,000 tons of phosphate fertilizers from OCP Nutricrops, as part of an agreement established between the Moroccan group and the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
The new order consists of 80,000 tons of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 60,000 tons of Triple Superphosphate (TSP). This decision comes as Dhaka aims to maintain sufficient fertilizer stocks to ensure supply for farmers.
Two Shipments of DAP at $894 per Ton
In detail, Bangladeshi authorities have validated two shipments of 40,000 tons of DAP each, priced at $894 per ton. The cumulative value of these two operations amounts to approximately $71.52 million.
Additionally, two more shipments of 30,000 tons of TSP each have been approved. The first is priced at $678 per ton, while the second is offered at $668 per ton, bringing the total value of these two shipments to around $40.38 million.
In total, the approved Moroccan volumes represent 140,000 tons of fertilizers, valued at approximately $111.9 million according to the announced unit prices.
Intensifying Agricultural Cooperation
This new operation is part of a long-standing trading relationship between OCP Nutricrops and BADC. The two partners renewed their annual supply agreement for the 2026-2027 campaign in June 2026.
This agreement allows OCP Nutricrops to supply up to 1.3 million tons of phosphate fertilizers, including a maximum of 750,000 tons of TSP. The partnership between the two entities dates back to 2008.
The new order thus confirms the importance of Bangladesh in the Moroccan group’s international strategy, as the Asian country heavily relies on agricultural input imports to support its production.
210,000 Tons Approved in Less Than Two Weeks
The decision from August 24 comes just days after a previous order. On August 12, 2026, the Bangladeshi government had already authorized the import of 70,000 tons of fertilizers from OCP Nutricrops, including 40,000 tons of DAP and 30,000 tons of TSP.
With this latest operation, the approved Moroccan fertilizer volume by Bangladeshi authorities now reaches 210,000 tons in less than two weeks.
This series of contracts illustrates the strengthening of supplies from Morocco and the growing role of OCP Nutricrops in Bangladesh’s phosphate fertilizer import framework.
Morocco Among Several International Suppliers
During its meeting on August 24, the Bangladeshi government purchasing committee approved the import of a total of 365,000 tons of fertilizers from various international suppliers.
In addition to OCP Nutricrops, these purchases also include suppliers from Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Canada, as well as the Bangladeshi producer KAFCO.
For Bangladeshi authorities, these imports are essential to maintain sufficient stocks of crucial agricultural inputs and to ensure their timely availability for farmers.
OCP Strengthens Its Position in International Markets
For OCP Nutricrops, this new order not only enhances the presence of the Moroccan group in a strategic Asian market, but also comes amid a context where several countries are seeking to secure their fertilizer supplies and mitigate risks associated with disruptions in global supply chains.
The partnership with Dhaka thus provides Morocco with significant market opportunities for its value-added phosphate fertilizers, while reinforcing cooperation between the two countries in a sector directly linked to agricultural productivity and food security.
