Tragic Incident in Tétouan: Two Children Lose Their Lives in Building Collapse
Local authorities in the province of Tétouan reported that two children tragically lost their lives early Saturday morning following the partial collapse of a residential building in the city’s medina.
A Building Housing Multiple Families
According to these sources, the structure, which consisted of a ground floor and two upper levels, was home to five families, totaling 11 individuals at the time of the incident.
Rescue Operations Underway
Upon receiving the alert, local authorities, security services, and civil protection teams promptly arrived at the scene to initiate search and rescue operations, while securing the perimeter around the partially collapsed building.
Two Victims Despite Rescue Efforts
Rescue operations managed to recover the body of a 10-year-old child. An 8-year-old girl, who was critically injured, was evacuated to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries shortly after her admission.
Investigation Launched
Authorities have confirmed that the relevant prosecutor’s office has been notified to open an investigation aimed at determining the precise circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
