Iranian Threats Against Military Ships in Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the ideological military arm of Iran, has announced that it will respond “severely” to any attempts by military ships to cross the Strait of Hormuz.
Direct Threats to Military Presence
In a statement reported by state television IRIB, the naval command of the IRGC claimed to have “total authority” to control this strategic passage.
It also specified that navigation through the strait would now be “reserved for civilian ships under specific conditions.”
These threats come in the wake of the U.S. Central Command’s announcement concerning the passage of two warships from the U.S. Navy through the strait.
According to this source, these military vessels were tasked with neutralizing naval mines laid by Iran.
A Strategic Point Under High Tension
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime passages, through which a significant portion of global oil trade transits.
Any escalation in this sensitive area could have major consequences for maritime security and international energy markets.
Risk of Military Escalation
This rise in tensions between Iran and the United States raises fears of a new escalation in the region, as diplomatic efforts struggle to yield results.
