Public Payments: Deadlines Reduced to 23 Days for Administrations and Local Authorities

The average payment time for ministerial departments and local authorities has now been reduced to approximately 23 days, well below the legal deadline of 60 days. This was announced on Monday in the House of Representatives by Nadia Fettah.
In response to an oral question regarding adherence to legal payment deadlines in public contracts and orders, Nadia Fettah stated that the average payment time for public institutions and enterprises (EPE) is under 38 days, which is still below the current legal ceiling.
The minister emphasized that this performance is part of a broader initiative to improve the business climate, driven by the implementation of several public policies. However, she noted that cash flow remains a significant issue for some businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which heavily rely on payment timelines to finance their investments, meet their expenses, and sustain their operations.
In this context, the Treasury services of the Kingdom continue their efforts to streamline payments and enhance public expenditure management. Simultaneously, the government is accelerating the digitalization of administrative procedures to simplify processes, reduce delays, and provide better support to businesses.
