UNICEF Morocco Publishes Its 2025 Annual Report on the Situation of Children

UNICEF in Morocco has published its annual report for 2025, highlighting the efforts undertaken by the Kingdom to support national reforms and achieve tangible results for children, particularly the most vulnerable.

Progress Amidst a Challenging Global Context

UNICEF’s representative in Morocco, Laura Bill, emphasized that despite significant global challenges regarding children’s rights, Morocco has continued its efforts to strengthen public policies and improve the living conditions of children.

Constant Support for Structural Reforms

In the preface of the report titled “Supporting Structural Reforms Related to Children’s Rights,” UNICEF underscores its ongoing support for national reforms, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Morocco, to ensure tangible results, especially for children in vulnerable situations.

Advancements in Social Protection and Child Welfare

In the area of social protection, a study was conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the new National Agency for Social Support to facilitate its effective implementation. Regarding child protection, new standardized procedures have been adopted to improve care at the local level, including for children in situations of migration. The assessment of detention practices and non-custodial alternatives has now become an international benchmark.

Promising Initiatives in the Education Sector

In response to the challenge of school dropout rates, an innovative model aimed at keeping girls in school has been established, yielding significant results. Certain schools have successfully reduced, or even eliminated, dropouts. The evaluation now recommends the national implementation of this model.

Strengthening the Health System and Vaccination

In the health sector, UNICEF has facilitated the acquisition of 19 million doses of vaccines and nutritional supplements. The organization has also contributed to modernizing the cold chain, combating vaccine hesitancy, and enhancing national capacities through the mobilization of all partners.

Renewed Commitment to Sustainable Development

As the deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals approaches, UNICEF reaffirms its commitment to supporting structural reforms in favor of children’s rights, considering that investment in childhood is a crucial lever for human and sustainable development.

Five Key Areas at the Core of the Report

This approximately thirty-page report is structured around five main areas: health and nutrition, education, protection, social inclusion, and children’s participation.
