Motorways of Morocco Accelerates Its ESG Transformation and Strengthens Its Sustainable Strategy

The National Company of Highways in Morocco (ADM) is taking a significant step forward in its sustainability strategy by launching an extensive initiative dedicated to operationalizing its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) policy.

Having established the key outlines of its sustainable development strategy, this public enterprise now aims to structure a more concrete approach that is measurable and aligned with international standards.

A First ESG Report Aligned with International Standards

In this context, ADM plans to produce its first ESG report aimed at enhancing the transparency of its environmental, social, and governance commitments.

The company has issued a call for tenders to select a specialized firm responsible for supporting this transformation and structuring a reliable, verifiable non-financial reporting system. This mission, set to take six months, will cover all of the group’s activities as well as its technical subsidiary, ADM Infrastructure.

A Strategy Focused on Governance and Sustainable Performance

The program includes several phases, notably an assessment of the current sustainable development strategy to measure its coherence with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and international ESG standards.

ADM also seeks to strengthen its sustainable governance by establishing a charter of commitments intended for various internal and external stakeholders.

Pilot Sites Spread Across the Highway Network

The initiative will involve several pilot sites located throughout the national highway network, including toll stations, rest areas, and operational infrastructures.

These sites will serve as experimental grounds for testing new ESG management tools and implementing plans for environmental and operational improvements.

Accelerating the Energy Transition of Highways

This transformation is part of a broader energy transition dynamic initiated by ADM. The company is concurrently working on a decarbonization strategy for its highway infrastructures through the gradual deployment of renewable energy sources.

The projects will specifically target toll stations, service areas, operational buildings, and highway lighting, with particular emphasis on solar energy production potential.

European Support for Modernizing the Highway Network

This acceleration of the ESG transformation also occurs within the context of modernizing Morocco’s highway network, supported by the European Investment Bank.

A recently approved strategic partnership foresees a financing estimate of 300 million euros aimed at bolstering the resilience and modernization of the Kingdom’s highway infrastructures, particularly in light of major international events scheduled for 2030.

ESG Becoming a Strategic Pillar for Public Enterprises

Through this initiative, ADM is joining the transformation momentum embraced by several major Moroccan public enterprises, aiming to integrate ESG criteria into their governance and performance models.

The stated goal is to make sustainability a genuine strategic lever capable of strengthening infrastructure resilience, institutional transparency, and the group’s attractiveness to financial partners and international investors.
