Three Unprecedented Opening Ceremonies for the 2026 World Cup

The FIFA has announced the organization of three exceptional opening ceremonies for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Several major international music stars will take part in these festivities.
Azteca Stadium Makes History
According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the first ceremony will take place on June 11, 2026, at the Azteca Stadium, preceding the opening match between Mexico and South Africa.
This iconic Mexican stadium will thus become the first venue in history to host three World Cup opening matches.
A Star-Studded Musical Lineup in Mexico
The ceremony in Mexico City will feature several renowned artists, including Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, and Maná.
International stars such as J Balvin, Danny Ocean, and Tyla will also be part of the show.
Toronto and Los Angeles Also in the Spotlight
On June 12, Toronto will host the Canadian opening ceremony ahead of the match between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina, featuring Canadian singer Michael Bublé.
On the same day, Los Angeles will hold the American ceremony before the match between the United States and Paraguay. Global star Katy Perry is slated to deliver a highly anticipated performance.
A Historic World Cup Edition
FIFA has indicated that these ceremonies will blend music, culture, and football to reflect the identities of the three host countries and the unity of this global event.
The 2026 World Cup will also be historic from a sporting perspective, as it will feature 48 national teams for the first time. A total of 104 matches will be played across 16 host cities, with the final scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in the United States.
