Tinghir: Two Agreements Worth 148 Million Dirhams to Strengthen Agricultural and Rural Development

Partnership Agreements Signed to Enhance Agricultural Development in Tinghir
On Friday, two partnership agreements totaling 148 million dirhams were signed in Kelâat M’Gouna to bolster agricultural and rural development in the Tinghir province.
These agreements were finalized during the 61st edition of the International Rose Festival in Morocco, held from May 7 to 10, in a ceremony presided over by Ahmed El Bouari, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests.
These projects are part of the implementation of the regional agricultural plan under the Generation Green strategy, which aims to support promising agricultural sectors, promote local enhancement, and preserve natural resources in oasis areas.
A Program to Strengthen Cooperatives in the Sector
The first agreement, which has a budget of 12 million dirhams, focuses on upgrading and supporting cooperatives operating within the perfume rose sector.
This program is specifically designed to help these structures obtain health certifications, deemed an essential lever for improving product quality and facilitating access to national and international markets.
Through this initiative, the authorities also aim to enhance the competitiveness of local producers and support the valorization of local products.
136 Million Dirhams for Water Resource Conservation
The second agreement, representing an investment of 136 million dirhams, pertains to the construction of infrastructure dedicated to the collection of rainwater and the recharge of aquifers.
The project also includes various actions aimed at conserving water resources and combating soil erosion upstream of dams.
These measures are intended to strengthen the resilience of agricultural systems to the effects of climate change, particularly in oasis regions facing significant pressure on water resources.
Generation Green Strategy at the Heart of Rural Development
These agreements reflect the commitment of public authorities to continue implementing the Generation Green strategy through structured projects aimed at the sustainable development of rural areas.
The province of Tinghir, known for its cultivation of the perfume rose, is one of the priority areas for conserving oasis ecosystems and supporting high-value agricultural sectors.
The Rose Festival: An Economic and Territorial Showcase
The International Rose Festival remains a key event for promoting the agricultural and cultural heritage of the Kelâat M’Gouna region.
The event highlights the economic potential of the rose sector as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing territorial development, local employment, and environmental sustainability in the Kingdom’s oasis areas.
