WHO reassures: No global pandemic related to Ebola.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that the risk of Ebola virus spread in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) remains high at both the national and regional levels, but remains low globally. At this stage, the organization rules out any scenario of a pandemic.
A High but Localized Risk
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus specified that the current assessment categorizes the risk as high in the DRC and neighboring countries, while remaining limited on the international scale.
He emphasized that the situation does not meet the criteria for a global health emergency of a pandemic nature.
No Declaration of an International Emergency
Meanwhile, the chair of the WHO emergency committee, Lucille Blumberg, confirmed that the current outbreak does not meet the necessary conditions to be declared a public health emergency of international concern.
According to her, the criteria defining a pandemic are not fulfilled, despite the continued vigilance.
Enhanced Surveillance in Africa
Nevertheless, the WHO continues to closely monitor the situation, particularly in Central Africa, where epidemic outbreaks may sporadically emerge.
The organization urges the maintenance of prevention and rapid detection efforts to avoid any wider regional spread.
