Moroccan Sahara: Bangui Reaffirms Its Support for Morocco’s Sovereignty

Central African Republic Affirms Unwavering Support for Morocco’s Sovereignty Over Western Sahara

During her visit to Rabat on Wednesday, Central African Republic (CAR) Foreign Minister Sylvie Baïpo-Temon reiterated her country’s "constant" position regarding Morocco’s territorial integrity over Western Sahara. This affirmation came during talks with her Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

Following the diplomatic meeting, Minister Baïpo-Temon expressed her nation’s support for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco in 2007, which Bangui regards as "the only credible and realistic solution" to resolve the regional dispute surrounding Western Sahara.

Baïpo-Temon also praised the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which Rabat considers a renewed endorsement of the international momentum in favor of Morocco’s autonomy initiative.

Rabat and Bangui Aim to Enhance Their Strategic Partnership

Beyond the Western Sahara issue, discussions between Nasser Bourita and Sylvie Baïpo-Temon focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Morocco and the Central African Republic.

The two officials highlighted the quality of political ties between King Mohammed VI and Central African President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, underscoring a relationship characterized by trust and South-South cooperation.

Rabat and Bangui now intend to intensify their collaboration across several priority sectors, including economic development, training, and human-centric projects. Both countries showcase their shared desire to elevate their strategic partnership to a new level, amidst an increasing rapprochement between Morocco and various African capitals on diplomatic and economic matters.
