Several Provinces Classified as Extremely High Risk
According to the agency, the provinces of Kénitra, Khémisset, Rabat, Salé, and Skhirate-Témara have been classified at an “extremely high risk” level due to current climatic conditions and rising temperatures.
The “high risk” level includes the regions of Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Tanger-Assilah, Ifrane, Taounate, Essaouira, and Agadir Ida-Outanane.
Meanwhile, the “moderate risk” level has been assigned to the provinces of Larache, Ouazzane, Tétouan, M’diq-Fnideq, and Taza.
An Assessment Based on Scientific Data
The agency states that the risk forecast maps were developed using several scientific criteria, including the nature of forest cover and its vulnerability to wildfires, as well as the weather and topographical conditions of the affected areas.
A Call for Vigilance
Authorities urge residents living near forest areas, sector professionals, as well as visitors and vacationers to remain vigilant and avoid any behaviors that could trigger a fire.
The agency also emphasizes the importance of immediately reporting any suspicious smoke or unusual activity observed near forests to local authorities.
