Women’s Entrepreneurship: Germany Plans €101 Million Funding to Support Women Entrepreneurs in Morocco

Germany to Mobilize €101 Million to Promote Women’s Entrepreneurship in Morocco
Germany is set to mobilize significant funding of €101 million to support women’s entrepreneurship in Morocco. This program, led by the German development bank KfW in partnership with Tamwilcom, aims to strengthen women’s access to financing and promote economic inclusion for women in the Kingdom.
The announced funding package includes €100 million in loans and €1 million in grants. The operational launch of the program is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027 and will span five years. The primary objective is to enhance the capabilities of Moroccan financial institutions to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are run or predominantly owned by women.
The initiative will also include awareness campaigns to better inform Moroccan female entrepreneurs about the available guarantee and financing mechanisms. Tamwilcom will play a central role in implementing the program as the primary operator of the project.
This initiative comes amid growing international concern over the low economic participation of women in Morocco, despite significant advancements in female educational attainment. According to data from the World Bank, the participation rate of Moroccan women in the workforce fell to 19% in 2024, down from 28% in 2000, creating a considerable gap compared to men.
Challenges in accessing financing are among the main barriers to the development of female entrepreneurship. Women entrepreneurs often face obstacles related to bank guarantees, access to formal credit, and financing conditions. The German-Moroccan program aims to reduce these barriers to promote a more inclusive economic growth.
This new financial cooperation also confirms the strengthening of economic partnerships between Morocco and Germany, focusing on issues related to sustainable development, employment, and the economic inclusion of women.
