Casablanca-Settat: The Regional Project Execution Agency Presents a Mid-term Report Rich in Achievements

During the first six months of 2026, the Regional Project Execution Agency (AREP) for the Casablanca-Settat region continued its implementation of assigned development projects, yielding tangible results in basic infrastructure and essential services. These accomplishments, outlined in the Regional Development Program 2022-2027, aim to enhance the territory’s attractiveness and improve living conditions for residents across various provinces in the region.
This mid-year assessment was presented during the regular June session of the Agency’s monitoring and supervisory committee, held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the regional headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Abdellatif Maâzouz, President of the Council of the Casablanca-Settat region, with the presence of Mr. Mohamed Mhidia, the regional wali, committee members, as well as the Agency’s director and staff.
Mr. Mustapha El Ghazi, the director of the Agency, detailed the major achievements of the semester. In terms of road infrastructure, the Agency completed 77 kilometers of tracks benefiting 12 municipalities and 22 kilometers of classified roads for 6 municipalities. In the area of potable water, it installed 461 kilometers of pipelines serving 17 municipalities and connected communities with 2,355 individual connections and 123 public fountains benefiting 15 municipalities. Additionally, there were 3,436 individual connections and 543 public fountains established for various centers and villages across 37 municipalities, benefiting nearly 158,241 residents. Lastly, 2,250 LED lamps were installed in 3 villages.
Mr. El Ghazi also presented a new rural road program executed using a double-layered surfacing technique. The Agency launched 97% of the contracts simultaneously in May through the official public procurement portal. This program aims to construct over 1,130 kilometers of rural roads across six provinces in the region, with a total budget of approximately one billion dirhams, benefiting 78 municipalities.
In the same vein, the director provided a detailed overview of new and ongoing projects, with a total value exceeding 2.4 billion dirhams. The progress rate for ongoing works in 2026 has reached 93%, amounting to nearly 1.4 billion dirhams for 102 municipalities across all provinces. These projects involve urban development, access to potable water, socio-economic development, unclassified roads, electricity connections, and public lighting.
The meeting also served as an opportunity to present the Agency’s modernization efforts in management methods, including digitalization of the order office, establishment of a geographic information system, the launch of an electronic document management and digital archiving project, as well as the development of digital and mapping tools for precise and effective project tracking.
At the conclusion of the discussions, the President of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council commended the Agency’s efforts and the pace of project realization, while emphasizing the need to sustain mobilization and accelerate progress to ensure a concrete and lasting impact for the region’s residents.
