Agadir is set to welcome a new energy platform dedicated to LPG.

Strengthening Energy Infrastructure in Souss-Massa

The Souss-Massa region is set to bolster its energy infrastructure with the upcoming launch of a new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling unit near Agadir. Construction on the project is 98% complete, with final administrative procedures underway ahead of the official operational launch.

This facility represents a substantial investment of 300 million dirhams and serves as a vital addition to the national energy logistics chain. Spanning 15 hectares, it will have an annual filling capacity of 100,000 tons of LPG. The initiative is supported by a partnership between TotalEnergies Marketing Maroc, Vivo Energy Maroc, and the Akwa Group.

Located approximately 70 kilometers from the port of Agadir, this installation will be the second LPG filling platform in southern Morocco. It aims to enhance the security of supply and distribution of gas in the Souss-Massa and Guelmim-Oued Noun regions, where demand for energy products is steadily increasing.

The complex will feature integrated industrial facilities, including filling units, storage spaces, truck loading docks, maintenance workshops, and administrative buildings, enabling it to meet the growing needs of both industrial and domestic sectors.

Storage capacity will reach 2,000 m³ of LPG, distributed across five 400 m³ tanks, equating to about 1,000 tons of gas. This reserve will ensure up to three and a half days of supply, surpassing the minimum level required by national regulations.

Thanks to its proximity to the Anza gas reception station, the platform is expected to improve supply timelines and optimize logistical operations related to LPG distribution in southern Morocco.

Economically and socially, the project is anticipated to create 150 direct and permanent jobs, along with approximately 100 indirect jobs in transportation, logistics, maintenance, and security. During the construction phase, over 200 workers have been mobilized.

Beyond its economic impact, this new infrastructure will also enhance the environmental performance of the sector by reducing the distances traveled by trucks transporting LPG. This logistical optimization should minimize risks associated with road transport and decrease greenhouse gas emissions linked to fuel delivery.
