The CGEM Strengthens Its Commitment to Côte d’Ivoire’s 2026-2030 Development Plan

The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) has reaffirmed its commitment in Abidjan to sustainably mobilize the Moroccan private sector in support of the implementation of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030. This initiative is also part of a broader vision to strengthen economic integration across the African continent.

This announcement was made by Mehdi Tazi, president of the CGEM, during the opening of the second day of the Consultative Group for financing the PND 2026-2030, dedicated to investors and attended by government officials, private sector representatives, diplomats, and several international delegations.

The Private Sector at the Heart of PND Financing

On this occasion, Mehdi Tazi emphasized the determination of the Moroccan business community to support the priority areas of the Ivorian program by facilitating the identification of structural projects, fostering partnerships between Moroccan and Ivorian companies, and executing investments that create value and jobs.

The president of the CGEM reminded attendees that over 70% of the financing for the National Development Plan is expected to come from the private sector, reaffirming the strategic role of businesses in the economic transformation of Côte d’Ivoire.

Côte d’Ivoire: A Prime Destination for Moroccan Investments

Côte d’Ivoire remains one of Morocco’s key economic partners in Africa. In 2024, direct Moroccan investments in the country reached 1.24 billion dirhams, highlighting the robust exchanges between the two economies.

Moroccan companies are currently active in several strategic sectors, including banking and finance, telecommunications, fertilizers, agriculture, real estate, infrastructure, construction, energy, pharmaceuticals, service centers, and the sugar industry.

Strengthening Economic Cooperation

On the sidelines of the Consultative Group, Mehdi Tazi held discussions with Ahmed Cissé, president of the General Confederation of Enterprises of Côte d’Ivoire (CGECI).

The two officials agreed to revitalize and enhance the Economic Impulse Group (GIE) Morocco-Côte d’Ivoire, aligning it with the priorities of the PND 2026-2030 and promoting the emergence of new cooperation projects between businesses from both countries.

A Shared Vision for African Integration

Through this mobilization, the CGEM confirms its ambition to strengthen South-South economic partnerships and support Moroccan investments across the continent.

The employers’ organization aims to contribute to the development of regional value chains, encourage productive investments, and consolidate economic ties between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, two key players in West African growth.
