Automotive Market in Morocco: Sales Increase by 15.7%

The Moroccan automotive market continues to grow in 2026, despite a slowdown in sales pace observed in July. According to data from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM), 20,738 vehicles were sold during the month, compared to 19,713 units in July 2025, marking an increase of 5.2%.
This performance allows the market to maintain its upward momentum since the beginning of the year. Over the first seven months of 2026, 152,486 vehicles have been sold in Morocco, up from 131,739 units during the same period in 2025. This represents an annual growth of 15.7%.
A Growth Rate That Begins to Slow
The progress recorded in July remains positive, yet it represents a slowdown compared to previous months. In June, sales had increased notably by 16.7% year-on-year.
AIVAM attributes this trend to a now more demanding comparison, particularly since May 2025, a period during which the market began showing exceptionally high sales levels.
Despite this slowdown, the Moroccan automotive market marks its seventh consecutive month of performance exceeding that of 2025, following an already historic year in 2025 with 235,372 vehicles sold.
Passenger Cars Remain Predominant
In the passenger car (PC) segment, sales reached 18,085 units in July 2026, an increase of 2.1% compared to the same month last year.
This growth follows a particularly dynamic month in June, with 24,649 passenger cars sold, representing the highest monthly total recorded so far this year.
From January to July 2026, sales of passenger cars stand at 134,887 units, which is up from a lower level during the same period in 2025. Consequently, the annual growth reaches 15.3%.
Passenger cars now account for 88.5% of the Moroccan automotive market in the first seven months of the year. This share remains largely dominant, although it sees a slight decrease from the 88.7% recorded at the end of June.
Light Commercial Vehicles Accelerate
The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment shows even stronger momentum. In July, 2,653 units were sold, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 32.3%.
In the first seven months of 2026, LCV sales reached 17,599 vehicles, marking a growth of 19.5% compared to the same period in 2025.
This trend notably indicates a resurgence in activity and investment from businesses and professionals, who are enhancing their transportation and mobility capacities.
Thus, LCVs account for 11.5% of the Moroccan automotive market since the beginning of the year.
A Market Still on the Rise
With over 152,000 vehicles sold by the end of July, the Moroccan automotive market is thus confirming its positive trend in 2026. While the monthly growth appears to be slowing down after the exceptional performances seen in the first half of the year, the cumulative indicators remain strong.
The continuation of this momentum will now depend on consumer and business behavior in the coming months, as well as the market’s ability to sustain high sales levels against an increasingly significant comparison base.
