Falcon Energy Opens Its Pilot Anode Graphite Plant in Jorf Lasfar

Falcon Energy Materials Takes a Major Step Forward with Pilot Graphite Plant in Morocco

Falcon Energy Materials has reached a significant milestone in its industrial project in Morocco with the inauguration of its pilot anode graphite plant in Jorf Lasfar. This facility, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, is dedicated to the production of natural spherical graphite, purified and coated (CSPG), a strategic material used in the manufacturing of batteries for electric vehicles.

The opening of this unit marks Falcon Energy’s transition from the preparation phase to industrial operation, further solidifying Morocco’s position in the global battery value chain.

A Pilot Plant to Qualify Moroccan Graphite

Unlike a commercial production unit, this pilot plant is not designed to generate immediate revenue.

Its mission is to produce graphite samples for automotive manufacturers and battery producers, aimed at validating the quality of Moroccan material. It will also gather the technical data necessary for the design of the future industrial plant and train the teams that will work there. The first qualification-scale samples are expected to be produced by the summer of 2026.

A Future Commercial Plant in Sight

The success of this pilot phase will condition the signing of future supply contracts (known as “offtake”), considered an essential step before the construction of the commercial plant can commence.

Falcon Energy plans to develop an industrial unit in Jorf Lasfar capable of producing 25,000 tons of anode graphite per year, with an estimated investment of $86 million, and production is anticipated to begin between late 2027 and early 2028.

Morocco Strengthens Its Battery Ecosystem

Falcon Energy’s establishment aligns with the growing development of Morocco’s electric vehicle battery ecosystem.

Thanks to its proximity to the Jorf Lasfar port infrastructure and the numerous industrial projects already underway related to battery materials, the Kingdom aims to become a major player in this strategic industry on an international scale.
