Hydrogen: A German Business Mission Scheduled in Morocco

German Business Mission to Explore Industrial Hydrogen Applications Scheduled in Morocco

A German business mission focused on industrial hydrogen applications is set to take place in Morocco from October 26 to 30, 2026. This information emerges from the 2026 schedule of Germany’s energy export program, managed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE).

Planned over five days, this mission is part of Germany’s commercial travel initiative targeting markets and sectors deemed strategic. The specific theme for Morocco is "Hydrogen for Industrial Applications."

Morocco Targeted for Hydrogen Technologies

The BMWE’s schedule includes a dedicated entry for Morocco in its North Africa section. The mission aims to bring together German companies and Moroccan market stakeholders to discuss technologies and industrial applications related to hydrogen.

At this stage, however, the document does not specify which German companies will participate. Additionally, no investment amounts, specific industrial projects, or new establishment announcements have been made.

The primary goal appears to be commercial, with an intent to foster direct contacts between German businesses and their potential Moroccan partners or clients.

Targeted Business Meetings

The structure of the mission indicates its purpose. The BMWE describes these business trips as delegations of German companies heading into selected markets and sectors, with a special emphasis on individual commercial networking.

The upcoming mission to Morocco is expected to allow participating companies to showcase their technologies, identify business opportunities, and engage directly with Moroccan stakeholders interested in industrial hydrogen applications.

However, the specific industrial sectors and the equipment likely to be presented have yet to be detailed in the calendar published in August 2026.

Morocco Highlighted in the North African Program

Morocco stands out as one of the two North African destinations included in this segment of the German program. Another mission is scheduled for September 21-25 in Tunisia and Algeria, albeit with a different focus.

This trip will center on Power-to-X, green hydrogen, and energy storage solutions along the SoutH2 corridor. It is framed as a project scouting trip, aimed at identifying concrete opportunities and working on potential solutions with local partners.

Strengthening Energy Cooperation

The planned German mission to Morocco occurs against the backdrop of developing sectors related to hydrogen and clean energy. The visit will enable German companies to explore the needs of the Moroccan market and identify new cooperation opportunities in the industrial domain.

Currently, there are no announcements regarding contracts, funding, or specific investments accompanying this mission. Its primary focus remains on building commercial relationships and identifying opportunities between German firms and Moroccan players.

Nevertheless, the October meeting could mark another step forward in strengthening the collaboration between the two nations in energy technologies and the development of industrial hydrogen applications.
