Nasser Bourita’s Visit to the United States: Reaffirmation of American Support for Morocco’s Sovereignty over the Sahara

During his visit to the United States, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita held an important meeting with his American counterpart, Marco Rubio. The latter reiterated the United States’ support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and for the Moroccan autonomy initiative.

Washington views the autonomy plan as the only fair and sustainable solution to resolve this artificial dispute. According to Marco Rubio, President Donald Trump urged all parties involved to engage in immediate discussions, using Morocco’s autonomy proposal as the sole framework to reach a mutually acceptable resolution.
