Legislative Elections 2026: Voter Turnout Reaches 38.02%
The voter turnout for the 2026 general legislative elections reached 38.02% nationwide at the close of polling stations, the Ministry of the Interior announced on Wednesday evening. The election, which pertains to the selection of members of the House of Representatives, concluded at 7 PM in accordance with legal provisions.
A vote conducted under normal conditions
According to data provided by prefectures, provinces, and district prefectures across the Kingdom, the national participation rate stands at 38.02%. The Ministry of the Interior clarifies that, aside from a few isolated incidents involving a limited number of polling stations, the electoral operations proceeded normally throughout the country.
Following the closing of the polling stations, the vote counting and tallying operations commenced immediately. These activities occurred in the presence of representatives from the candidate lists and initially concerned the local electoral constituencies, before moving on to the regional constituencies.
Minutes submitted to central offices
Once their task is complete, the polling stations send the minutes compiled during the electoral process to the central offices. This step facilitates the counting of votes received by the various candidate lists within their respective constituencies.
The process then continues at the commissions responsible for tallying the votes. These commissions, headed by magistrates, are tasked with verifying the results and announcing them in accordance with the procedures established by electoral regulations.
Results to be announced following the vote count
For local constituencies, the determination of results relies on the minutes prepared by the central offices. For regional constituencies, the tallying commissions base their work on the minutes generated from operations conducted at that level.
It is after this procedure that the results of the vote, as well as the names of the elected candidates for the House of Representatives, will be officially announced.
