Sidi Ifni: The New Spanish Consul in Agadir Received by Rachid El Bettah

Rachid El Bettah Welcomes New Spanish Consul General in Sidi Ifni
Rachid El Bettah, the president of the municipal council of Sidi Ifni and a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), received Miriam de Corral Sánchez-Cabezudo, the new Consul General of the Kingdom of Spain in Agadir, during a courtesy and working visit at the municipality’s headquarters.
This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the prospects for strengthening cooperation and partnerships between the two parties, as well as ways to enhance exchanges surrounding local development issues and the promotion of Sidi Ifni’s historical and cultural heritage, continuing the historical and cultural ties between Morocco and Spain.
On this occasion, Rachid El Bettah congratulated the Consul General on her new role, wishing her every success in her responsibilities. He also reaffirmed the municipal council’s commitment to continuing efforts towards partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
Among the proposals presented during this meeting was the project to rehabilitate the historical building known as "La Bactoria." Proposed by Rachid El Bettah, this project aims to establish a specialized institute for teaching languages and their literatures.
The initiative seeks to reintegrate this building into the cultural and social life of the city by highlighting its historical and architectural significance and giving it a new purpose to serve the region’s residents.
The project also aims to enhance young people’s access to foreign language learning, broaden their training opportunities, and improve their professional prospects. It could further contribute to strengthening cultural exchanges between Morocco and Spain.
For her part, Miriam de Corral Sánchez-Cabezudo expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she received and showed interest in this proposal. She emphasized the consulate’s willingness to explore, in a spirit of cooperation, the possibilities of implementing cultural and development initiatives that align with shared interests.
This meeting aligns with the municipal council of Sidi Ifni’s commitment to opening up to its external environment and its desire to utilize the city’s historical and cultural heritage as a lever for local development, particularly through partnerships in training, culture, and tourism.
