Algeria-United Arab Emirates: Algeria Announces Break in Diplomatic Relations

Algeria announced on Thursday the severance of diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, citing an increase in what it describes as “provocative or hostile actions” from Abu Dhabi.
In a statement, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that it had shown restraint and responsibility before making this decision, emphasizing that it had made numerous attempts to alert the Emirati side about the consequences that could arise from its actions.
According to the same source, these warnings have not succeeded in curbing such behaviors. Algeria believes that they have reached a level that can no longer be regarded as “acceptable or tolerable” within the framework of relations between two sovereign states.
The Algerian government thus declares that it has chosen to break diplomatic relations with the UAE after exhausting what it sees as “all avenues to preserve bilateral relations.”
The Ministry further specified that the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates was received at its headquarters on Thursday and officially informed of the decision. He was also given a 48-hour deadline to comply with this directive.
