African Lion 2026: Deployment of a Medical-Surgical Field Hospital in Taroudant
Humanitarian Actions Alongside the African Lion 2026 Exercise
As part of the humanitarian initiatives accompanying the joint exercise African Lion 2026, a medical-surgical field hospital has been deployed in the administrative area of Faid, located within the province of Taroudant, following the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Joint Mobilization of Medical Teams
This healthcare facility involves nearly 160 healthcare professionals from the Royal Armed Forces, alongside approximately 90 American medical personnel, showcasing the close cooperation between the two countries in humanitarian and medical fields.
Comprehensive Medical Services
The hospital offers a diverse range of healthcare services spanning various specialties, including general medicine, cardiology, gynecology-obstetrics, pediatrics, ophthalmology, dermatology, as well as surgery, emergency care, intensive care, dentistry, and medical imaging.
High Influx of Beneficiaries
Since its launch, the hospital has experienced a significant influx of local populations and surrounding areas. As of May 3, over 31,000 medical services have been provided for more than 12,000 beneficiaries.
Holistic and Supportive Care
In addition to consultations, the facility conducts surgical interventions, screening campaigns, medication distribution, and provides free eyeglasses and prescriptions, all contributing to improved access to healthcare.
Social Activities for Children
Social and cultural activities are also organized for children under the supervision of Moroccan and American social services, aiming to enhance well-being and promote cultural exchange.

A high-level Moroccan-American military delegation conducted a site visit to monitor the ongoing operations and assess the resources mobilized.
Strengthened Humanitarian Dimension
This initiative highlights the humanitarian aspect of the African Lion exercise, which transcends military objectives to include social and health actions, thereby strengthening the partnership between Morocco and the United States.
