Aterian Speeds Up Mining Exploration in Morocco with First Drilling Program in Agdz

The group Aterian, specialized in the exploration of critical metals, has reached a significant milestone in Morocco. As part of its joint venture with Lithosquare, the company has launched an extensive exploration campaign across several mining projects in Morocco, with Agdz being the first site set to enter the drilling phase.
This new phase reflects the determination of both partners to expedite the development of their asset portfolio by leveraging the most advanced exploration technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Three Strategic Projects at the Core of the Program
The initial work focuses on the projects located in Agdz, Azrar, and Tata, which are considered some of the most promising assets in Aterian’s Moroccan portfolio.
The program combines various exploration techniques, including:
- geological mapping;
- hyperspectral satellite imagery;
- geophysical surveys;
- geochemical analyses;
- trenching work;
- drilling campaigns.
All data collected will be integrated into the exploration platform developed by Lithosquare, which uses artificial intelligence to enhance target identification and mitigate risks associated with exploration campaigns.
Agdz: The First Project to Enter the Drilling Phase
The Agdz project is the priority for this initial campaign.
A ground magnetic study conducted in the Agdz East area has just been completed, and its results are currently being analyzed. Meanwhile, teams have already commenced geological mapping and trenching operations to gain a better understanding of the deposit’s structure.
These investigations will help prepare the next steps of the project, including the launch of the first drilling program and the procedures related to the renewal of mining permits.
Enhanced Exploration Campaigns at Azrar and Tata
For the Azrar project, Aterian plans to carry out hyperspectral surveys, magnetic studies, induced polarization work, geological mapping, and channel sampling.
These operations will serve to identify the most promising areas before starting a first reverse circulation drilling campaign.
The Tata project will also undergo thorough investigations through airborne geophysical surveys, drone-based magnetic surveys, and field observations aimed at defining future drilling objectives.
Artificial Intelligence in Mining Exploration
Beyond field operations, the strategy of Aterian and Lithosquare relies on an integrated approach to exploration.
Geological, geophysical, geochemical data, and hyperspectral imagery will be analyzed by a platform powered by artificial intelligence to optimize target selection and prioritize projects with the highest potential.
While the joint venture is also conducting work in Botswana, particularly in the Kalahari copper belt, Morocco currently represents one of the primary testing grounds for this innovative strategy.
With the imminent launch of drilling at Agdz, Aterian reaffirms its ambition to strengthen its presence in the Moroccan mining sector and contribute to the exploration of strategic resources essential for the energy transition and new technology industries.
