Attijariwafa Bank Enhances Support for Trade and Financial Transactions Between Morocco and China with CIPS Membership

Attijariwafa Bank is boosting its support for commercial and financial exchanges between Morocco and China by joining the Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS), a dedicated infrastructure for the clearing and settlement of cross-border payments in renminbi, China’s currency.

Announced on October 15, 2026, this membership will enable the bank’s corporate and institutional clients in Morocco to benefit from faster and more efficient payment services in renminbi, based on the international standard ISO 20022.

This integration aims to secure and streamline the settlement of commercial transactions conducted in the Chinese currency, reduce processing times, and simplify banking correspondence circuits. It is also expected to facilitate the diversification of currencies used in international transactions.

Through this initiative, Attijariwafa Bank intends to enhance its support for companies engaged in trade and investment between the two countries by providing tailored payment solutions for their international operations.

This membership aligns with the group’s strategy to develop its cross-border payment services and to bolster economic relations between Morocco and China.
