Casablanca Celebrates the Artisans of Morocco’s Blue Economy

On the occasion of World Maritime Day, celebrated each year under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and recognized by the United Nations, the Association of Alumni from the Higher Institute of Maritime Studies (ISEM Alumni) is organizing the second edition of its national event dedicated to recognizing Moroccan seafarers. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, starting at 5:00 PM in Casablanca, under the theme: “Seafarers: Key to the Kingdom’s Maritime Renaissance.” This gathering will bring together key players in the national maritime ecosystem: public administrations, port institutions, shipowners, logistics operators, shipping companies, training establishments, experts, academics, media, and professionals from the sector.

In a context marked by the High Royal Guidelines calling for the establishment of a strong and competitive national merchant fleet, this event aims to contribute to promoting national maritime culture and mobilizing resources around the Kingdom’s maritime ambitions. Beyond honoring the women and men who transport over 80% of global trade daily, this day also seeks to highlight the strategic role of the maritime sector in economic sovereignty, logistical development, employment, and Morocco’s international influence.

The program for this second edition will include:
– A national tribute to Moroccan seafarers;
– The presentation of the “Maritime Excellence Awards,” honoring individuals who have significantly contributed to the development of the maritime sector;
– Recognition of the pioneers, builders, and influential figures of Moroccan maritime industry;
– Discussions on the challenges of the Kingdom’s Maritime Renaissance;
– A networking opportunity bringing together the entire national maritime community.

The first edition saw strong participation from the maritime sector and benefited from extensive national media coverage, confirming the growing interest in the Kingdom’s maritime challenges and the enhancement of Morocco’s maritime human capital. Through this initiative, ISEM Alumni aims to enhance the visibility of maritime professions, promote national skills, and unite public and private stakeholders around a common vision for Morocco’s maritime future.
