CHU International Mohammed VI of Agadir: An Integrated Medical Ecosystem to Transform Health Care in Morocco
On a 12.5 hectares of land, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health is developing a hospital-university complex in Agadir that boasts international significance. More than just a healthcare center, it represents a fully integrated ecosystem designed to sustainably enhance healthcare offerings and medical training in Morocco.
This project, executed in an accelerated time frame of 18 months, fits into a national dynamic aimed at modernizing the healthcare system and strengthening specialized infrastructure.
A Comprehensive University Hub Dedicated to Health Sciences
The project includes a university hub aimed at training future generations of healthcare professionals. This campus will house the Mohammed VI Faculty of Medicine, the Graduate School of Engineering in Health Sciences, the School of Nursing, as well as an international simulation center for health sciences.
The UM6SS university site in Agadir is already operational for the academic year 2025-2026, with full opening of the hub scheduled for September 2026.
A Residential Hub to Support Students
The project also features a residential hub with approximately 800 beds designated for students. This facility is designed to ensure a living environment suited to future healthcare professionals, featuring dedicated services for well-being and academic support.
This infrastructure enhances the campus’s attractiveness and fosters an environment conducive to training and success.
A Cutting-Edge Hospital Hub Expected in 2027
The hospital hub is the central component of the project. It will consist of 324 beds, 14 operating rooms, and advanced medical equipment, including a Cyberknife, a PET scan system, and 74 intensive care beds.
Its operational launch is slated for 2027, with the aim of establishing Agadir as a regional reference center for specialized care and advanced medicine.
A Model Based on Innovation and Sustainability
The complex aims for an HQE International certification at the “Exceptional” level, ensuring high standards in energy efficiency, comfort, and environmental sustainability.
On the digital front, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health is also rolling out a unified electronic patient record system, already operational in other institutions, which is set to be implemented in Agadir.
An Expanding National Hospital Network
This project fits into a broader strategy for deploying the FM6SS across Morocco, with establishments in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Dakhla, and now Agadir.
This integrated hospital-university network aims to position Morocco as a major player in medical excellence in Africa, combining care, training, and innovation within a cohesive structural model.
