easyJet Expands Operations in Morocco with New Base in Marrakech

Kenton Jarvis, the CEO of easyJet, stated that the inauguration of the airline’s new base in Marrakech marks the culmination of a shared vision and close cooperation with Moroccan partners.

A Strategic Partnership to Enhance Air Travel

Speaking at the inauguration of this new base at Marrakech-Ménara Airport, as part of a long-term partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office, Jarvis emphasized that this initiative will broaden travel opportunities through an increased offering of flights and stays. It will also contribute to the dynamism of the local economy and job creation.

Expanding Activities in Morocco

Since 2025, the company has been operating in five Moroccan airports, namely Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira, and Tangier. With this new base, easyJet plans to offer a record capacity reaching four million seats in its first year of operation.

Significant Economic and Social Impact

The establishment of the new base is expected to generate around 100 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs, thus contributing to regional economic development and enhancing Morocco’s tourism appeal. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s ambitions through sustainable investments and improved air connectivity.

Promising Tourism Dynamics

On his part, Achraf Fayda, the Director General of the Moroccan National Tourism Office, welcomed this important step in building a lasting partnership, highlighting the encouraging performance of the tourism sector and a momentum expected to continue through 2030.

Air Transport as a Strategic Lever

Fayda stressed the key role of air transport in enhancing international connectivity, especially with Europe, asserting that this partnership will help solidify Morocco’s position as a major tourist destination and expand its air network.

New Flight Routes on the Horizon

In line with its network development, easyJet announced the launch of new routes to Marrakech, including from Prague, Newcastle, and Zurich, along with additional connections to Essaouira and Agadir. Furthermore, several existing routes will be maintained throughout the year, including those to Lille, Strasbourg, and Hamburg.

This new base, featuring three aircraft in Marrakech, reinforces easyJet’s position as the second-largest airline in the city, while offering more European destinations and greater flexibility for travelers.
