The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced on Sunday that Aïd al-Adha will be celebrated in Morocco on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, following the confirmation of the sighting of the lunar crescent marking the beginning of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 of the Hijri calendar.
The 1st of Dhu al-Hijjah set for Monday, May 18
In an official statement, the ministry specified that the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah falls on Monday, May 18, 2026, following the legal observation of the lunar crescent.
This announcement officially sets the date for the festival of sacrifice, celebrated annually by Muslims around the world.
Prayers and Blessings for the Royal Family
At the end of its statement, the ministry extended prayers and well-wishes to Mohammed VI, Amir Al-Mu’minin, imploring God to grant him health, blessings, and prosperity.
The ministry also offered its best wishes to Moulay El Hassan, Moulay Rachid, as well as to all members of the Royal Family, the Moroccan people, and the entire Islamic Ummah.
