Germany Reaffirms Support for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative

LGermany has reiterated its stance regarding the centrality of the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, expressing its willingness to act accordingly on diplomatic and economic fronts.
A Joint Statement Strengthening Bilateral Partnership
This position was conveyed in a joint statement that concluded the second session of the multidimensional strategic dialogue between Morocco and Germany, held in Rabat in the presence of Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his German counterpart Johann Wadephul.
Support for the UN Process and a Political Solution
Berlin also welcomed UN Security Council Resolution 2797, deeming that a solution based on genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty represents the most realistic option for resolving the regional dispute.
The Moroccan Initiative as a Framework for Negotiations
Germany emphasized that the autonomy plan put forward by Morocco serves as a serious and credible basis for negotiations aimed at achieving a just, sustainable, and mutually acceptable political solution for all parties involved.
Commitment to a Diplomatic and Economic Approach
Berlin reaffirmed its support for the efforts of the United Nations and its personal envoy, while commending Morocco’s willingness to clarify the framework for implementing autonomy. Germany also committed to acting in line with this position on diplomatic and economic levels, in compliance with international law.
