Marrakech Hosts the 2026 Global GISS Symposium

Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will host the fifth edition of the ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS).

This major international event is set to take place from April 14 to 16, 2026, in the city of Marrakech, under the theme: “Regional Solutions, Global Benefits.”

A High-Level International Participation

The symposium will draw nearly 1,500 participants, including 40 ministers, 60 directors general from civil aviation authorities, as well as representatives from international organizations, financial institutions, and numerous global aviation sector experts.

This strong turnout highlights the growing importance of this event in shaping civil aviation policies on an international scale.

A Strategic Platform for Aviation Cooperation

GISS 2026 is part of efforts to enhance international cooperation and support the implementation of ICAO standards and policies. It also aligns with the "No Country Left Behind" initiative, which aims to ensure global harmonization of civil aviation standards.

A Comprehensive Program Addressing Sector Challenges

The program for this edition will feature a high-level opening ceremony followed by a ministerial roundtable.

Several thematic panels will be organized to address major challenges facing the aviation sector, including:

  • Air connectivity
  • Aviation safety with the goal of "zero fatalities"
  • Aviation financing
  • Strengthening regional mechanisms
  • Development of airport infrastructure
  • Training and skills enhancement for talents

Morocco Confirms Its Role as a Regional Aviation Hub

By hosting this international event, the Kingdom of Morocco reaffirms its commitment to safe, sustainable, and inclusive civil aviation.

This initiative also reinforces the country’s position as a regional aviation hub and a key player in international air transport, underscoring its strategic role in developing the sector on a global scale.
