Marsa Maroc Enhances Handling at Casablanca Port with New Crane
Marsa Maroc is continuing the modernization of its port facilities with the commissioning of a new crane at its multipurpose terminal in the Port of Casablanca. This acquisition aims to bolster the operational capacities of the terminal and improve its flexibility in handling various types of cargo.
Arriving at the terminal at the end of September, this new crane is a Liebherr LPS model. According to project data, it is the first crane of this kind to be put into service on the African continent.
This new installation belongs to the category of mobile port cranes, designed to offer greater flexibility in lifting and handling operations. It allows the terminal to respond more effectively to the diverse needs associated with the various types of cargo processed.
The crane has a reach of 48 meters and boasts a maximum lifting capacity of 100 tons under hook. In bucket configuration, its capacity reaches 50 tons, providing the terminal with additional means to ensure a variety of handling operations.
The commissioning of this equipment is expected to contribute to the enhancement of the operational capabilities of the multipurpose terminal, improving its capacity to handle various categories of goods and providing greater flexibility to port operations.
This acquisition is part of Marsa Maroc’s strategy to modernize its infrastructure and equipment, in order to keep pace with the evolving traffic at the port and meet the growing demands of supply chains.
