Microfinance and the Social and Solidarity Economy: JAIDA Accelerates Its Transformation Towards a New Inclusive Financing Model

JAIDA’s Strategic Transformation in Microfinance: Fostering Inclusive Financing and Supporting the Social Economy in Morocco
The microfinance institution JAIDA is undergoing a strategic transformation aimed at strengthening its role in inclusive financing and supporting the social and solidarity economy (SSE) in Morocco. This evolution is part of an effort to modernize the microfinance sector and adapt to new economic and social challenges.
In response to market changes and the evolving needs of micro-enterprises, cooperatives, and project holders, JAIDA is gradually transitioning to a more diversified model focused on social impact, financial innovation, and territorial development.
The goal is to enhance the financing capacities of actors in the social and solidarity economy while improving financial inclusion for the most vulnerable populations, particularly in rural areas and regions that are far from traditional banking circuits.
This transformation occurs in a context where microfinance is playing an increasingly vital role in supporting entrepreneurship, self-employment, and the creation of income-generating activities. The sector is also being urged to integrate more digital tools and new sustainable financing mechanisms.
JAIDA aims to assist microfinance institutions in scaling up by emphasizing governance, digitalization, innovation, and responsible financing. The institution also aspires to support initiatives linked to women’s entrepreneurship and the green economy.
This strategic transition reflects a commitment to strengthening the role of inclusive finance in Morocco’s economic and social development, as the social and solidarity economy gradually gains prominence in national public policies.
