2026 Legislative Elections: CGEM Discusses Economic Priorities with the Istiqlal Party

As part of the consultations leading up to the legislative elections scheduled for September 2026, the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM) welcomed a delegation from the Istiqlal Party (PI) on Saturday. The delegation was led by its Secretary General, Nizar Baraka, accompanied by several ministers and officials from the political party.
This meeting was attended by members of the Confederation’s Executive Board, the presidents of various federations and committees, as well as representatives from the CGEM parliamentary group.
Presentation of Key Economic Program Orientations
During the discussions, the Istiqlal Party delegation outlined the main pillars of its economic program, while the CGEM shared the expectations and priorities of the private sector aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.
The talks addressed several challenges related to economic development and the strengthening of Morocco’s entrepreneurial fabric.
Common Priorities to Support the Economy
According to the CGEM, both parties found common ground on various strategic issues. Key priorities discussed included enhancing the competitiveness of very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises (TPMEs), supporting productive investment, progressively integrating the informal sector into the formal economy, and promoting more balanced territorial development.
The discussions also focused on ways to preserve citizens’ purchasing power and bolster the role of businesses as a lever for economic growth and job creation.
Pre-Election Consultation for 2026
This meeting is part of a series of consultations organized by the CGEM with various political parties in anticipation of the upcoming legislative elections.
Through this initiative, the Confederation aims to contribute to the economic debate by sharing the concerns of Moroccan businesses and fostering dialogue with political actors regarding reforms that could enhance competitiveness, investment, and sustainable development in the Kingdom.
