Moroccan Film Park Continues Transformation with New Financial Support

The Moroccan film industry is undergoing a significant transformation with new financial assistance aimed at the creation, modernization, and digitization of cinema halls. The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) has decided to allocate a total of 12.875 million dirhams to six projects located in Casablanca, Tétouan, Tangier, and Rabat.

This decision was made during the inaugural meeting of the Commission for the Support of Digitization, Modernization, and Cinema Hall Creation, held at the end of July in Rabat. The objective is to support both the emergence of new infrastructures and the upgrading of existing establishments.

Casablanca alone accounts for 8 million dirhams of this funding, earmarked for the creation of two new cinema halls. The “Cinerji Ain Sebaa” project is receiving a grant of 4 million dirhams, while the “Empire” cinema benefits from an equivalent amount, bringing the total support for new infrastructures in the city to 8 million dirhams.

In Tétouan, the funding pertains to the “Alcazar” cinema, which is receiving two separate grants. A first subsidy of 575,000 dirhams is allocated for its modernization, whereas a second one, amounting to 650,000 dirhams, is designated for its digitization. In total, the establishment is receiving 1.225 million dirhams.

Support continues in Tangier, where the “Megarama City Mall” complex, which includes cinemas 1 to 8, is allocated 3 million dirhams for its digitization efforts. In Rabat, the “Renaissance” cinema will receive 650,000 dirhams for the same purpose.

The distribution of aid thus reflects a dual focus: enhancing cinema offerings through the creation of new halls while improving existing infrastructures through modernization and digital transition. With these funds, the CCM aims to continue its support for the cinema sector in several major cities across the Kingdom.
