Morocco and the European Commission Strengthen Their Cooperation in Sustainable Air Transport

Morocco and the European Commission have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the air transport sector, with a particular focus on sustainability and the energy transition, during a meeting held Wednesday in Marrakech.
A meeting on the sidelines of an international event
This meeting brought together the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, and the Head of Aviation Policy at the European Commission, Eddie Liégeois, on the margins of the 2026 Global Support Conference, highlighting the dynamic partnership between Morocco and the European Union.
Significant projects and preparations for the 2030 World Cup
On this occasion, the Minister presented key structural projects undertaken by Morocco in the airport sector, as well as efforts to modernize the national airline fleet in preparation for the 2030 World Cup.
Challenges of energy transition in aviation
Both parties also discussed the challenges associated with the energy transition in the aviation sector, including the development and use of sustainable aviation fuels, as well as the prospects for producing alternative fuels in Morocco.
Towards a decarbonized aviation
The discussions emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in these strategic areas to support the efforts of decarbonizing air transport and contributing to sustainable development goals.
