Morocco Honored at a Berlin Master Class Dedicated to SMEs

Morocco Shines at Berlin’s SMEs Future Day
On Wednesday, Morocco was prominently featured during a “master class” held as part of the Future Day for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Berlin. This event brought together leaders from major German companies interested in investing in the Kingdom, along with representatives from businesses already established in Morocco.
An Attractive Market for German Investors
This gathering served as a valuable opportunity for participants to exchange experiences and highlight the advantages of the Moroccan market. The Kingdom was presented as an appealing destination due to its favorable economic environment, competitive production costs, skilled workforce, and strategic geographical proximity to Europe.
Speakers emphasized that these advantages position Morocco as a credible alternative for companies looking to expand beyond the European Union.
A Strategic Industrial and Logistics Platform
Discussions also underscored Morocco’s growing role as an industrial and logistics platform. The country is gradually establishing itself as a key link in German value chains, particularly for activities relocated outside the European Union.
In a global context marked by uncertainty, Morocco’s stability appears to be a decisive factor in attracting and securing investments.
Growing German Interest
According to Zakaria Kourti, director of the German SME Union office in Morocco, this “master class” aligns with a broader initiative to showcase the organization’s strategic partners. He noted that Morocco is increasingly capturing the attention of the German business community.
This enthusiasm is bolstered by several German institutional players, including the German Agency for International Cooperation, which views Morocco as a priority country for supporting the establishment of German companies, especially SMEs.
Responding to German Economic Needs
The official further explained that this interest addresses specific needs within the German economy, particularly concerning qualified human resources, which have become harder to recruit in Germany—especially in key sectors like automotive and advanced technologies.
In this context, Morocco emerges as a favored partner, offering both skills and competitiveness.
A Year of Activity for the Office in Morocco
Additionally, Zakaria Kourti reviewed the first year of operations for the German SME Union office in Morocco. He highlighted the swift establishment of a partner network and the signing of several cooperation agreements with Moroccan and German institutions.
The office has also organized economic missions in Morocco, including a high-level visit to the southern provinces, to explore investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic relations.
An Organization Dedicated to SMEs
Founded over fifty years ago, the German SME Union is a major organization representing the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises across various sectors. It comprises dozens of professional associations and over 900,000 companies throughout Germany, boasting a network of more than 300 national offices and 80 international ones, including one in Morocco.
