Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, continues its unwavering policy of solidarity with Arab brothers in service of regional stability.
Morocco’s Stance on Arab Solidarity: A Ministerial Statement
The Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, continues its steadfast policy of effective solidarity with Arab brothers, embodying a firm royal stance supporting Arab sovereignty and regional stability in the face of escalating Iranian aggression. This was stated by Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad.
During the 165th ordinary session of the Council of Arab States at the ministerial level, held via videoconference on Sunday, Mr. Bourita recalled that Morocco was the first country to express solidarity with its Arab brethren at the onset of this crisis, in line with royal directives.
The minister also noted that His Majesty had direct discussions with the leaders of Gulf countries, during which the Sovereign "reaffirmed Morocco’s strong condemnation of the despicable aggressions targeting the sovereignty of these brother states and the security of their territories, as well as His Majesty’s full support for these countries in all legitimate measures they find appropriate to preserve their security and the tranquility of their citizens."
The Arab region is currently experiencing a delicate and extremely complex period, facing relentless aggressions that have exceeded all limits, targeting innocent civilians and vital infrastructures such as airports, ports, and power plants, in blatant violation of international laws and customs. This has unprecedentedly undermined the right of regional peoples to live in dignity and security, Mr. Bourita added.
The minister specified that these attacks targeted Arab countries not involved in any conflict and warned that "the continuation of these aggressions, if unchecked, risks expanding this conflict and transforming it into a regional confrontation that threatens the stability of the entire area and even global peace." He emphasized the considerable damage these aggressions have inflicted on both regional and international economies.
"Where are these crises leading us? And how long will the Iranian regime continue to undermine the security and stability of the region in an ongoing campaign of aggression spanning half a century?" Mr. Bourita pondered, alluding to the Arab concern regarding this situation.
In light of this reality, the minister affirmed that the historical responsibility of Arab states mandates a firm and determined response to such behavior. He reiterated his call for Iran to comply with Security Council Resolution 2817 and to immediately and unconditionally cease all its aggressions. He urged for "the formulation of a unified and firm Arab position against this hostile behavior."
He also called for support for "Arab states in all legitimate measures they take to protect their territories" and for "immediate and decisive actions to ensure the security of the regional airspace and maritime navigation."
The Kingdom of Morocco, which closely follows recently emerged mediation initiatives and proposals, reaffirms that serious dialogue, grounded in reason, remains the only path to restoring security and stability in the region. Mr. Bourita announced that the Kingdom supports and appreciates any initiative aimed at de-escalation, putting an end to the hemorrhaging of conflict, and establishing foundations that ensure it does not recur, regardless of circumstances, in order to preserve the right of Arab brother states and their peoples to live in peace, stability, and security.
In conclusion, Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, will remain steadfast in defending the supreme interests of the Arab nation, as well as the security and stability of the region, embodying a pioneering model of concrete solidarity and principled positions.
