Safran Expands Its Factory in Morocco and Plans for 400 Jobs

French aerospace group Safran strengthens its industrial presence in Morocco with the expansion of its Aïn Atiq plant
The French group Safran is reinforcing its industrial presence in Morocco with the expansion of its Aïn Atiq plant, located near Témara. Inaugurated on October 13, 2026, in the presence of Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, this expansion adds 5,700 square meters to the existing facilities and is expected to create 400 jobs. This investment accompanies the growth of electrical wiring activities in the aerospace sector and the integration of new industrial programs.
Safran Enhances Its Production Capabilities in Aïn Atiq
The Safran Electrical & Power plant in Aïn Atiq gains an additional 5,700 square meters, bringing the total site area to 31,400 square meters. Specializing in the manufacture of electrical wiring for aircraft, it is one of the group’s significant facilities in this activity on a global scale.
This expansion aims to increase production capacity and accommodate new programs intended for major international aerospace manufacturers. It also responds to the growing needs of the aerospace industry, which demands increasingly efficient and reliable electrical systems.
The site’s activity is expected to approach two million production hours in 2026. Currently, it employs 1,610 staff, of whom 87% are women. With the addition of the 400 announced jobs, the company intends to strengthen its teams to support the development of its activities in Morocco.
Two Decades of Industrial Presence in Morocco
The Aïn Atiq expansion comes as Safran celebrates 20 years of presence in the Kingdom. Over the years, the group has broadened its industrial footprint and developed several fields beyond aircraft wiring manufacturing.
In Casablanca, its activities include electric motors, landing gear brake systems, and electromechanical equipment. These investments reflect the gradual diversification of industrial skills developed by the group in Morocco.
For Safran, the Kingdom thus serves as an important industrial base capable of contributing to various international aerospace programs. The enlargement of the Aïn Atiq site fits into this dynamic by consolidating existing capabilities and preparing for the integration of new activities.
Electrification at the Heart of Aviation Decarbonization
Bruno Bellanger, CEO of Safran Electrical & Power, emphasized the continuity of the industrial partnership with Morocco. He also highlighted the role of electric technologies in the group’s efforts to support the decarbonization of air transport.
The target of carbon neutrality for aviation by 2050 involves several technological advancements, including improving the efficiency of propulsion systems, increasing the use of sustainable aviation fuels, and developing solutions that incorporate more electricity.
In this context, on-board electrical systems play a strategic role. They contribute to the operation of numerous aircraft components and support the evolution of aerospace architectures towards more efficient solutions.
The development of Safran Electrical & Power’s capabilities in Morocco is part of this industrial transformation, although the precise contribution of the Aïn Atiq site to future programs will depend on the activities assigned to it.
Training to Support New Programs
The growth of the plant also depends on the availability of skills tailored to the demands of the aerospace sector. Leïla El Ghrib, president of Safran Electrical & Power Morocco, highlighted the relationships maintained with universities and educational and training institutions.
These partnerships aim to facilitate recruitment, enhance employee qualifications, and support the evolution of industrial jobs. The challenge lies in preparing Moroccan teams to take charge of new programs while consolidating the expertise already developed at the site.
Thus, the extension of the facilities represents not only an increase in production space but also a need for technical skills, ongoing training, and adaptation to the requirements of international aerospace programs.
Ryad Mezzour Commends the Growth of the Moroccan Aerospace Industry
Present at the inauguration, Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour praised Safran’s ongoing investments in Morocco. He recalled the evolution of the Aïn Atiq plant since its inception, presenting it as an illustration of the progress made by the national industry over the past two decades.
With the total area now increased to 31,400 square meters and the announcement of 400 additional jobs, Safran Electrical & Power continues to develop its activities in the Kingdom.
This new expansion reinforces the place of the aerospace industry within Morocco’s industrial diversification strategy. It also enhances the prospects for developing local skills and the participation of Moroccan sites in international production chains.
