Moroccan international Zakaria Ouahdi has voiced his ambition to compete in the upcoming World Cup with the Atlas Lions, believing that his recent individual accolade could enhance his chances of being selected for the national team.

After winning the “Black Shoe” award on Monday, which recognizes the best African player or player of African descent playing in Belgium, the right-back articulated his overarching global dream.
Playing for KRC Genk, he stated: “I think about the World Cup every day; it’s the dream of every player. I hope to be part of the national team, and I will do everything to make it happen.”
An Impressive Statistical Season
Ouahdi is having a standout season, netting 12 goals and providing 5 assists across 41 matches in all competitions. He has also made his mark in European competitions, scoring 4 goals and contributing 1 assist in 9 games.
A Journey Built in Belgium
Developed in Belgium, he played for Beerschot and Zulte Waregem before joining RWDM, where he helped the club achieve promotion to the first division. He then moved to Genk in the summer of 2023, continuing his upward trajectory in professional football.
