160 million MAD: Amiblu Morocco inaugurates its 3rd production line in Casablanca

Amiblu Morocco Inaugurates Third Production Line with a 160 Million Dirham Investment

On Tuesday, June 30, Ryad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, inaugurated the third production line of Amiblu Morocco, a company specialized in manufacturing glass-fiber reinforced polyester pipes (GRP). The ceremony took place in Casablanca, attended by several distinguished guests, including Anna Jankovic, the Austrian Ambassador to Morocco, Regina Zorn, Vice President of the Amiblu Group, Ali Benhayoun, Managing Director of Amiblu North Africa, and Omar Benyahia, General Director of Amiblu Morocco.

This industrial expansion, amounting to an investment of 160 million dirhams, signifies a new stage in enhancing the company’s production capabilities to support major national projects related to drinking water supply, seawater desalination, irrigation, and industrial infrastructure. It will also strengthen Morocco’s positioning as a regional platform for producing water transport solutions aimed at African markets.

With the new line now operational, Amiblu Morocco has raised its production capacity to 660 kilometers of pipes with an average diameter of DN800, while expanding the maximum producible diameter from DN2600 to DN3200. The initiative will also boost manufacturing capacity for special parts by 25% and increase the annual output of the Casablanca plant by over 150 additional kilometers, reaching around 650 kilometers per year.

This investment encompasses more than just a new production line. It also includes an international standard testing bench, manufacturing equipment for fittings, a workshop dedicated to special parts, a new production building, renovated storage and shipping areas, administrative buildings, a cafeteria for employees, and the establishment of the GRP Academy, touted as a global first. Set to open in 2027, this academy aims to promote this technology among Moroccan and African water sector professionals.

During his speech, Ryad Mezzour emphasized that this project aligns seamlessly with the Kingdom’s industrial transformation strategy, aiming to develop high-value-added sectors that can support Morocco’s major strategic projects, particularly those related to water desalination. The minister also noted that various pipe technologies used in national water projects—steel, concrete, or GRP—are now considered equal, each addressing specific technical needs.

He commended Amiblu Morocco’s journey since its establishment in 2007, then known as Amitech Morocco, stating that this evolution reflects the industrial transformation underway in the Kingdom, driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI through the development of a competitive, integrated, and value-creating industrial fabric.

On his part, Omar Benyahia, General Director of Amiblu Morocco, stated that the inauguration of this third line transcends the mere framework of industrial expansion. According to him, it represents the culmination of nearly twenty years of investment, trust, and partnership dedicated to securing the water resources of the Kingdom.

He reiterated that the company’s mission is to ensure a reliable and secure water delivery system to households, agricultural operations, and industrial sites, making access to water a central pillar of its industrial and technological commitment.

Present in Morocco since 2007, the company has already laid out over 5,000 kilometers of pipes across more than 220 projects involving drinking water, irrigation, sanitation, and industry. This new extension will also create 58 direct jobs and over 200 indirect jobs, while strengthening local skills through entirely Moroccan teams.

Beyond the national market, Amiblu Morocco has already begun exporting its solutions to several countries in West and East Africa, including Senegal, Mauritania, and Côte d’Ivoire, thus solidifying Morocco’s position as a regional industrial hub in hydraulic infrastructure and water transport solutions.
