Launch of the National MOOC to Train Future Trainers

New MOOC for Teacher Training in Morocco

MOOC: The Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports held an official ceremony on Thursday in Rabat to launch an e-learning MOOC program aimed at training teacher trainers. This initiative is a collaboration with the “Learning” program of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).

Hosted on the digital platform e-Takwine, this MOOC provides trainers from national training centers (CRMEF, CFIE, COPE) with an interactive, flexible, and fully online course. The goal is to enhance their professional skills, encourage pedagogical innovation, and standardize training practices across the nation.

Supported by the French Development Agency (AFD), this program represents the culmination of the digitization project of the “Practical Guide for Teacher Trainers in Morocco,” developed in collaboration with experts from the ministry, the “Learning” program, and Réseau Canopé (France).

During the opening session, the interim Secretary-General of the ministry, Houssine Kodad, highlighted that this initiative marks a pivotal step in transforming teacher training and fostering a culture of excellence within educational institutions. He reminded attendees that the 2022-2026 Roadmap prioritizes teacher qualification as a national priority, an essential condition for ensuring quality education and sustainable improvement in public schooling.

According to Mr. Kodad, this MOOC encourages the sharing of practices, promotes the dissemination of pedagogical innovations, and enhances equitable access to training. It also fosters a collaborative, reflective, and impact-oriented approach, serving a national community of expert trainers.

The program will harmonize training methods and develop key competencies in training engineering, evaluation, and professional support, thus contributing to establishing a culture of quality-driven management.

For his part, Nouredine El Mazouni, interim director of the National Center for Teaching (CNP), indicated that the MOOC comes at a crucial moment, marked by significant recruitment of new trainers who need to be prepared for the demands of the new training engineering. He reiterated that teachers are the cornerstone of improving learning, which gives this program strategic importance.

According to Giovanni Agresti, regional director of AUF–North Africa, the “Learning” program is among the major projects supported by the AUF. He emphasized that a country’s development largely depends on the quality of its educational system. Morocco, he added, has noted significant progress in its material and immaterial infrastructures, necessitating a well-trained youth to support this national dynamic.
