The Civil Guard dismantles a trafficking network of drones.

Exemplary Morocco-Spain Security Cooperation
On Wednesday, the Spanish Civil Guard announced the dismantling of a criminal network specializing in hashish trafficking via drones. This operation was made possible through close collaboration with the Royal Gendarmerie of Morocco. It underscores the ongoing enhancement of security cooperation between the two countries.
A Technologically Advanced Network Capable of Delivering 200 kg Per Night
According to the official statement, the network operated using a sophisticated system of drones capable of transporting up to 200 kilograms of hashish in a single night. These devices, designed and assembled by network members, conducted regular cross-border flights from isolated areas, taking advantage of their autonomy and discretion.
Seized Drones and Multiple Arrests
The operation was initiated after several unidentified flights were detected. It resulted in the seizure of eight operational drones and ten others in the process of assembly, as well as the arrest of nine individuals involved in this criminal activity.
The drones primarily took off from the Andalusian locality of Alcalá de los Gazules, flew over the Strait of Gibraltar, and returned to deliver their cargo in areas such as Vejer de la Frontera or Tarifa, where it was subsequently collected by accomplices.
Simultaneous Flights Organized to Maximize Gains
Investigations carried out by authorities revealed that during nights with low winds, the network could fly up to ten drones simultaneously. This strategy allowed for the rapid introduction of large quantities of narcotics into Spanish territory, while also minimizing the risks of interception.
