Official Inauguration of the Omar Tazi Educational and Humanitarian Center in Figuig

On the sidelines of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Morocco’s independence, the Omar Tazi Educational and Humanitarian Center was officially inaugurated this Tuesday in Figuig. This event marks a significant milestone in the fight for the empowerment of vulnerable young women.

The inauguration was presided over by:

• Mr. Noureddine Ouabbou, Governor of the Figuig Province.
• Dr. Lamia Tazi, President of the Omar Tazi Foundation.
• Mr. Nouredine Abdelhak, President of the Al Amal Associations Federation.

A Safe Haven and Strategic Partnership

Born from a strategic partnership between the Omar Tazi Foundation and the Al Amal Associations Federation, the Omar Tazi Center is designed to be a true incubator for autonomy. Its mission is to welcome up to 48 young girls aged 15 to 25 who are facing difficult circumstances, providing them with a safe haven and essential tools for professional integration.

“This reception center is the culmination of several years of struggle. It offers girls—particularly those forced to leave child protection structures at the age of 18—a warm refuge and the opportunity to acquire income-generating skills. Our mission is clear: to transform precariousness into opportunities,” explains Dr. Lamia Tazi, President of the Omar Tazi Foundation.

Comprehensive Support

The Center is committed to providing comprehensive development and sustainable integration through a range of services:

• 25 comfortable suites to ensure a pleasant and secure living environment.
• A strong partnership with the Office of Vocational Training and Labor Promotion (OFPPT), providing recognized diplomas and concrete integration projects.
• Psychosocial and educational support tailored to each individual’s journey.
• A variety of educational and recreational activities (such as reading and sports) designed for overall development and the growth of the residents.

The Omar Tazi Center thus serves as a socio-economic springboard for these young women, preparing them to become autonomous and active members of society.
